Using Free Software, I was able to provide graphical insight into Fire Engine Red’s traffic to its main Web property. A combination of ElastcSearch, Kibana, Logstash, and NXLog allowed for quick, and visceral understanding of what was possible without being locked in to up front costs.
A side-effect to storing logs in a searchable database (ElasticSearch) meant that support personel could identify the potential extent of an issue by determining exactly which customers accessed a problematic URL within a certain time frame.
